Immigration

Applicants need to file an Undertaking of Assistance (Sponsorship Application) to Case Processing Center, Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) for admission of an adopted child from a foreign country into Canada.

CIC will request a Letter of no Objection from Ministry and will forward the Sponsorship file to the appropriate Canadian Embassy, Visa Office.

Ministry will issue a Letter of no Objection and send it to the appropriate Canadian Embassy with a copy to the adopting parents and one to the licensed agency.

An application for permanent residence is sent to the adoptive applicants for completion on behalf of the child.

The child must undergo a medical examination by an Immigration designated medical practitioner (DMP) in the child’s country prior to the finalization of the adoption in order to determine whether the child is medically admissible.

If the child is medically admissible upon notification that the adoption has taken place the Visa Office verifies the adoption and travel documents and issues an landed visa to the child.
